Where have you been looking? Don't expect them to be very cheap, faux fur can fetch a pretty penn, although not as high as real fur.

Wearing real fur is sad and cruel, so I hope you are option for faux.

Fur is cruel, no matter whether real or faux.

^ not really sure how faux fur is cruel, considering it is made of acrylic fibers, but okay!

^because it still promotes the idea of fur, if someone sees a celebrity wearing a fur coat they don't know if it's real or fake so they go buy the real thing anyway. real fur is sometimes passed off as fake, because dog and cat fur is cheap to produce (obviously, just go steal someone's pet). it's all just cruel and despicable.

personally, i am for faux fur and vintage fur. i also think its a bit silly when the same girls you see crying about fur (even faux fur), talk about/or own leather jackets, shoes, etc.

I like some faux fur too (mainly cropped little jackets, not the big mk I-just-skinned-a-deer look) but only if it is actually faux. I don't think I would even buy vintage real fur, but that's a judgement call because technically the fur industry isn't gaining from it, it's just an ick factor with me.

as for leather, it's pretty hard to find a decent pair of shoes without leather. I wouldn't wear a leather jacket though. and I don't know much about the production of leather, but I would guess (or at least hope) that it's more humane than the fur industry, because it's on a much larger scale, and cows, being larger than rabbits, would be more difficult to skin alive, I would gather. calfskin, though, sounds terribly sad.

I don't want this to turn into a huge heated debate since we're mainly discussing this issue on a shallow fashion level *hehe*... but as for me I don't mind wearing faux fur. I've sold vintage fur on Adorevintage (once) because I didn't realize it was real fur... so I had sold it for $90... and a few faux fur pieces fetching about the same price.

And I agree early90s, I really hate the look of head to toe fur coats... it's just too much.

I despise real fur, I think anyone who wears it is either ignorant or heartless. I know that's harsh but I'm a huge animal rights advocate. I don't mind faux fur at all because I think it's cute and fuzzy, but I can understand how you still find it cruel. As far as shopping for it, try the Burlington Coat Factory.

I've been eying this shrug-cut coat for fifty dollars at H&M for the past few weeks, it's so dreamy.

If I get it I'll post pics

i want a cropped one to throw on in winter and add glamor to anything and everything. especially evening dresses.
i can't seem to find any good faux fur...

I bet you would be able to find some on ebay. I've been wanting a faux fur jacket too and found a few on ebay, they look fine in the pictures but me being all paranoid.. I still worry about the quality of the coats.

Real fur is definitely a no no for me.

I'm a vegan - no fur or leather for me. I own a very vintage mink scarf but I don't wear it, it's just an antique that I found in a charity shop. I need to give it a good home. I think faux fur is super cool though. I love the really loud pimp-mummy leopard ones you can get.

You can tell when fur is fake and it has a loud, fun element to it. I don't think it promotes real fur at all. At the end of the day fur used to be very glamorous but now it's largely considered to be cruel and no amount of faux fur is going to change womens' minds on that.

I am of the belief that no girl should b*tch on about the cruelty of wearing an animal's skin if they wear leather. That's just me. It doesn't make any sense.
